A presence in many international working groups

Arkema participates in standardization commissions working on nomenclature and terminology, metrology and characterization, health and hygiene at work, and safety and environment regarding nanotechnologies and nanomaterials.

Arkema chairs the AFNOR X457 Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials Commission, and is a member of the CEN TC 352 Nanotechnology and ISO TC 229 Nanotechnology commissions.

Arkema chairs the PACTE (Producer Association of Carbon nanoTubes in Europe) Group within CEFIC (European Chemical Industry Council): this group is responsible for coordinating Health, Safety and Environment initiatives regarding carbon nanotubes from European producers.

Arkema is one of the manufacturers sitting on the “Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials” set up by the OECD to evaluate the suitability and relevance of existing toxicological test protocols for carbon nanotubes, and to draw up and validate new protocols, if necessary.

Arkema is a member of the “Competent Authority Sub Group (CASG) on Nanomaterials” for the REACH regulation put in place by the European Community.

Through its American subsidiary Arkema Inc., Arkema also takes part in the work carried out on nanomaterials by the American government authorities within EPA, ILSI and CCA.

Finally, Arkema coordinates the “Nano and Health” joint working party between Union des Industries Chimiques (UIC – French Chemical Industries Association) and Fédération Française des Sciences Chimiques (FFC – French Chemical Sciences Federation).
